Hori Hiroshi’s dolls are made by precious real antique materials such as “Uchikake” (a type of kimono worn by princesses in the Edo period) and “Kanzashi” hairpins. which were also worn by princesses in the Edo period.
The world of
“The Tale of Genji”
Creating life-size puppets as well as smaller display dolls from the “The Tale of Genji” is one of Hori’s life work. The lady puppets with long lowered hair and ceremonial court kimono dress in the Heian dynastic period style have a unique original world that cannot be found in Bunraku.
