Kutani-Porcelain Dolls

New Challenge – Dolls by ceramic Kutani-Porcelain
– A collaboration with world renown Kutani-Porcelain master –
(Limited Edition)

In commemoration of the 45th anniversary of his life as a doll artist, Hori Hiroshi produced his first ceramic “Kutani-Porcelain” doll. (A limited number of dolls were produced and some were already sold.)

The theme of the work is ”The Rabbit from the World of Kabuki”. Rabbit is one of Hori Hiroshi’s creative themes, and the year 2023 is also the year of the Rabbit.

This Kutani-Porcelain doll was designed by Hori Hiroshi, all the molds were made by well known Kutani-Porcelain craftsmen, and after painting, Hori Hiroshi put eyes on the face and made props at his own atelier to complete these dolls one by one.

Since ancient times, the rabbit has been considered a sacred animal and an animal of good fortune. In the old Sengoku period, the rabbit was favored for its “forward leap” and “victory,” and for its long ears and “foresight,” and in modern times, it is favored for “moving toward the future” and “inviting victory and good fortune.
